Sheilagh and Melanie celebrated their anniversary in style on Monday 31st October, with a ceilidh at Cornhill Castle near Biggar. Mary was asked to call the dances and the ballroom was packed with friends and family, many of whom had travelled from the United States for the special occasion.
Guests wore a variety of costumes, from full kilt attire to knights and princesses. Sheilagh and Melanie themselves looked stunning, with Melanie dressed in a full highland outfit with purple kilt complimented with Sheilagh wearing a beautiful purple and black dress. In addition, they both wore the most amazing matching purple hairstyles!
There were traditional Scottish dances like the Strip the Willow and the Dashing White Sergeant, as well as more modern ceilidh dances like the Gay Gordons and the Virginia Reel.
After the dances, guests enjoyed a delicious buffet and drinks. The cake was a particular highlight, a beautiful three-tiered cream cake topped with autumnal flora and fronted by a navy ribbon embellished with a brooch.
We wish Sheilagh and Melanie every happiness in their Anniversary year and wish them many more to come!
