If you’ve ever wondered what happens when chemical engineering students let their hair down, wonder no more — because the answer is an absolutely epic ceilidh night that had every square inch of dancefloor (and quite a bit of carpet!) packed with enthusiastic dancers from start to finish!
We were absolutely thrilled to be invited to play for the University of Edinburgh Chemical Engineering students at the fantastic Place Hotel in Edinburgh, and what a night it turned out to be!
A Dancefloor That Simply Wasn’t Big Enough!
From the very first dance, it was clear this was going to be a special night. The dancefloor filled up almost instantly, and the enthusiasm just kept on building. In fact, so many students were keen to throw themselves into the reels and jigs that the dancefloor couldn’t contain them — and before long, the carpet had been well and truly commandeered as an overflow dancefloor! We absolutely love seeing that kind of energy, and it’s safe to say the Chemical Engineering department knows how to have a good time.
There’s something magical about a room full of people who are utterly committed to enjoying themselves, and these students had that in spades. Whether they were seasoned ceilidh dancers or complete beginners, everyone threw themselves in with a huge smile on their face — and that’s exactly what a great ceilidh is all about.
Rock Ceilidh — The Best of Both Worlds
For those who haven’t experienced a rock ceilidh before, imagine everything you love about a traditional Scottish ceilidh — the Strip the Willow, the Dashing White Sergeant, the Gay Gordons — but supercharged with the raw energy of live rock music. That’s exactly what The Rock Ceilidh Band brings to every event, and it’s a combination that gets people on their feet every single time. The University of Edinburgh students took to it brilliantly, and the atmosphere in The Place Hotel was absolutely electric all night long.
