On a rainy night in October, we were invited to play for a ceilidh at Lindores Abbey Distillery to celebrate Bruce and Sheena’s 50th wedding anniversary. Despite the flooded roads, most folks managed to attend and it was a great night.
The ceilidh was held in the distillery’s visitor centre, which is a beautiful space with high ceilings and exposed brickwork. The dance floor was packed all night long, and everyone had a great time. Check the videos below.
We were asked to play a waltz for Bruce and Sheena, and we chose to play “Ashokan Farewell.” We found out afterwards that this was a very special song to them, and it was a pleasure to play it for them.
During the disco, we played a mix of classic and modern songs. One of the songs we played was Rod Stewart’s “Maggie May,” which was the number one song when Bruce and Sheena met. We must have been telepathic that night!
The cake was a work of art, made by a friend of the family. It was white, decorated with pink flowers and a golden “50 yrs” on top.
It was an honor to be a part of Bruce and Sheena’s special celebration. We wish them many more happy years together.
